Digital automation solutions for a safe railroad infrastructure are the focus of Pilz’s trade fair presence at InnoTrans 2022 (September 20-23, 2022 in Berlin). A new feature is the Eulynx adapter, which enables the use of the manufacturer-independent Eulynx standard in existing interlockings. In addition, the automation company will be presenting its range of services for machine safety, which supports operators and manufacturers in the rail sector in safeguarding their operating sites.
At InnoTrans, Pilz will be showing how railroad infrastructure operators can exploit the opportunities of digitalization with automation solutions. For example, Pilz offers a portfolio with open interfaces and standardized COTS (Commercial Off-the-Shelf) solutions to dissolve proprietary applications. The range of products presented at Innotrans includes classic rail applications such as switch control systems, interface solutions or level crossings, but also industry-related rail applications such as safeguarding the rail operation area.
Open rail markets thanks to open communication
The Eulynx adapter, which Pilz is presenting at Innotrans, illustrates what the future of rail can look like. The standardization of interlocking technology is the declared goal of the European Eulynx project. In this standard, so-called object controllers translate the digital control commands of interlockings into analog signals, for example for turnouts. The Eulynx adapter based on the automation system PSS 4000 makes existing interlockings compatible with object controllers. Due to its openness and compatibility, the Eulynx adapter represents an important building block for the implementation of cross-country and cross-manufacturer digitization in control and safety technology.
Jan van der Heide, Business Development Manager Railway at Pilz, will explain how the path from local, country-specific solutions to an open railroad market can be successfully taken during the accompanying Speakers’ Corner. His presentation, “From Object Controller to Transnational Digitization of Railway Infrastructure – How Eulynx Can Accelerate Your Ambitions,” will take place Sept. 21 from 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. in Hall 7.2a.
Around the topic “Redefining Mobility: VDB Future Workshop”, Michael Fohrer, Consultant of the Business Unit Rail at Pilz, will discuss with other industry experts at the VDB Dialog Forum on September 23 from 10:00 – 12:00 at +palais.Berlin, Hall 19.
