Once again this year, Aida invited experts and interested parties to visit the European production facility in Pavone del Mella near Brescia. From February 17 to 28, 2025, visitors had the opportunity to find out about the latest technologies and production processes.
From February 17 to 28, 2025, Aida, a leading global manufacturer of servo and conventional presses for sheet metal forming, will open its doors for Winter Days 2025. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the European production plant. This event, organized by Aida for the second time, will focus on the benefits of servo technology and the most innovative solutions developed by the Aida Group in the past year.
The Winter Days offer a practical insight and include a complete factory tour: from the welding shop to intermediate processes through to final assembly. Live demonstrations of servo and conventional presses with different clamping forces and table sizes can be viewed. Aida presses are used to manufacture body parts, components, sheet metal for electric motors, structural parts, bipolar plates and battery containers, among other things.
A particular focus of the factory tour is on the new solutions that the Aida Group has developed over the past year. These include the new DSF-BE1 servo press series, which was specially designed for the high-precision production of bipolar plates in fuel cells and electrolysers (water electrolysers). With its innovative and backlash-free 9-point guide system, a highly rigid frame and generous clamping surfaces for multi-stage tools, the DSF-BE1 series sets new benchmarks in terms of production and quality standards.
Another highlight of the European site is the department for manufacturing the high-speed presses of the MSP series. This development is a milestone in an investment plan worth several million euros. The MSP presses, which were explicitly designed for the precise production of electrical laminations, meet the high requirements for the manufacture of EV and other motors. Since the introduction of the MSP series over 20 years ago, Aida has installed more than 500 systems worldwide. The MSP-4000-430 model was recently launched, which can accommodate tools up to 4,300 mm in length – ideal for two-row and, in special cases, even three-row production.
The Winter Days offer the opportunity to see several presses from the DSF-NE2 series live and in operation. These presses are developed and manufactured entirely at the Italian plant in Pavone del Mella. The DSF-NE2 series was launched at the beginning of 2021 and is a monoblock servo press. It is equipped with two pressure points that combine the high rigidity of the monoblock frame with the flexibility of the freely programmable slide movement. This is typical of Aida DSF technology. The DSF-NE2 series presses are equipped with high torque, low speed Aida servo motors. This provides unsurpassed punching performance. Every component of the frame has been designed and verified using FEM systems. The backlash-free roller guides require no lubrication and contribute significantly to a longer tool life.
Thanks to an innovative design and state-of-the-art production methods, the DSF-NE2 press series offers low-noise and low-vibration precision forming in a compact design. All production and maintenance processes are optimized to ensure maximum application flexibility and a long service life of the components, which are subject to natural wear. This press series, which achieves 120 strokes per minute, offers outstanding performance. The DSF-NE2 series was named Product of the Year in the “Stamping and Forming Technology” category at the Euroblech Awards 2022 in Hanover.
