The Essen-based trade fair “Welding & Cutting” is leveraging synergies and bringing its own exhibitors to the new Euro Defense Expo (Eudex) event. From September 22 to 25, 2026, it will take place for the first time alongside Security Essen at the Essen Exhibition Center. Schweißen & Schneiden will be represented there with a joint booth, showcasing the role that joining, cutting, and coating technologies play in defense applications.

14 exhibitors at the joint booth

At the joint booth in Hall 3, Booth 3A53, 14 exhibitors will showcase their product portfolios at the world’s leading trade fair for joining, cutting, and coating: Alexander Binzel Schweisstechnik GmbH & Co. KG, Carl Cloos Schweisstechnik GmbH, Drahtwerk Elisental W. Erdmann GmbH, DVS – German Association for Welding and Related Processes e.V., DWT GmbH Druckluft-Werkzeug-Technik mbH, Ficep SPA, Hermann Fliess & Co. GmbH, Gefertec GmbH, Kuhlmeyer Maschinenbau GmbH, Lissmac Maschinenbau GmbH, Lorch Schweißtechnik GmbH, Messer SE & Co. KGaA, SBI GmbH, and Vautid GmbH.

There, visitors will find 210 m² of technology for the manufacturing, maintenance, and modernization of safety-critical systems. “Schweißen & Schneiden opens up new worlds for our customers. With our joint booth at Eudex, we’re creating direct access to a highly relevant market,” says Christina Kleinpaß, project manager for Schweißen & Schneiden.

New Markets for Joining, Cutting, and Coating Technologies

The defense industry is an attractive business sector for the welding and cutting industry in various respects, according to Messe Essen. Whether in vehicle manufacturing, shipbuilding, aerospace, infrastructure, mobile systems, or equipment maintenance: processes from joining, cutting, and coating technologies contribute to availability, durability, and operational readiness. Added to this are topics such as occupational health and safety, automation, robotics, additive manufacturing, digital quality assurance, and resource-efficient repair methods.

The demand for manufacturing is growing in Europe. Political initiatives aimed at strengthening Europe’s defense capabilities are focusing not only on procurement and cooperation but also on the industrial base. This is said to open up new opportunities for companies in the welding and cutting technology sector.
