Laser power doubled

At EuroBlech, Trumpf will present the TruLaser Series 5000 with twice the laser power. The machine’s new laser, a TruDisk 24001, now brings 24 kW of power. As a result, the machine processes the components up to three times faster.

Depending on the material and application, the TruLaser Series 5000 can process up to 80 percent more metal sheets per hour. “With the higher laser power, companies can reduce their processing time enormously and improve their part quality at the same time. Combined with the high dynamics of the TruLaser Series 5000, its patented cutting unit and its automation functions, the technology significantly increases productivity”; promises Product Manager Patrick Schüle.
With twice the laser power, the machine cuts components significantly faster. In addition, it is now possible for the TruLaser Series 5000 to process mild steel with a sheet thickness of up to 20 millimeters using nitrogen as the cutting gas for the first time. This saves rework compared to machining with oxygen.

With a 12 kW laser, companies could previously only process mild steel with a sheet thickness of up to 15 millimeters with nitrogen. For thicker components, the supply of oxygen was necessary. This creates an oxide layer on the cut edges of the components, which production personnel must subsequently remove by machine or by hand. This is tedious and takes time.

Alternatively, companies can turn to a plasma machine to cut thick components. However, this works much slower and less precisely than the laser cutting machine.
The 24 kW laser, on the other hand, cuts sheet thicknesses up to 20 millimeters with nitrogen without any problems. As a result, there is hardly any rework and productivity increases. In addition, the double laser power improves the quality of the cut parts, especially for medium and high sheet thicknesses.

The 24 kW laser power of the TruLaser Series 5000 benefits all companies that want to further increase the productivity and part quality of their production. In particular, components in medium or high sheet thicknesses can be produced efficiently across all materials. Ttumpf will launch the TruLaser Series 5000 with 24 kW laser power starting at EuroBlech.
