Microstep Europe is presenting a newly designed platform for laser cutting machines called the X-Series. Four series – Smart Cube X, Smartline X, Masterline X and Smart Giant X – have been created on this platform and will be launched on the market under the “Microstep Industry powered by Accurl” brand.

Microstep’s aim is to strengthen its customers’ production – and therefore their competitiveness, as Managing Director Johannes Ried explains. The X-Series combines modular machine architecture, high laser performance, dynamics and digital intelligence in a platform-based approach for the first time.

One platform – four machine concepts

The Smart Cube X is the most compact machine on the new platform. It is aimed at manufacturing companies where precision is required but space is at a premium. Despite its small dimensions, it offers a level of efficiency and accuracy that is rarely found in this machine class. The machine is suitable for companies that pursue high quality standards but need to remain flexible at the same time, for example in urban industrial estates or in established production structures with limited floor space. The series offers a working area of up to 1,500 × 3,000 mm and can be equipped with a laser source of up to 12 kW for 2D cutting.

The Smartline X bridges the gap between cost-effectiveness, performance and growth. The 2D laser cutting system is equipped with an automated shuttle table and is aimed at companies that want to increase their production with manageable investment costs. The Smartline X is an entry-level machine for companies looking for a system that enables them to produce quickly and efficiently. This makes it suitable for small and medium-sized companies that want to take the next step towards automation and process optimization. The series offers a working area of up to 6,000 × 2,500 mm and can be equipped with laser sources of up to 30 kW.

Laser sources offer up to 60 kW

At the top of the new platform is the Masterline X, the high-end machine in the series designed for dynamics, precision and performance. With its acceleration values, processing speeds and the ability to map both 2D and 3D cutting processes, it is suitable for industries in which speed and accuracy are the most important competitive advantages, i.e. for companies with massive part volumes, demanding contours or high material thicknesses. In addition, material handling to and from the series can be automated thanks to the special shuttle table design. The Masterline X is available with a working area of up to 8,000 × 2,500 mm and laser sources in the range up to 60 kW.

The Smart Giant X was developed for large industrial formats and XXL material cuts. It enables users to process extreme sheet sizes in particular. The Smart Giant X is therefore designed for industries such as heavy steel construction, shipbuilding and plant engineering, where exceptionally large workpieces are part of everyday life. It combines huge work areas with high performance and the ability to use both 2D and 3D laser cutting technology. The system is available as standard with a working area of up to 3,000 × 15,000 mm. However, the length can even be extended to 42,000 mm if required. Laser sources of up to 60 kW are also available here for cutting large material thicknesses.

Digitalization with Industryfusion Ready and Xana AI

The X-Series was not only developed as a machine family, but is also optionally available as a digital manufacturing platform. The series is Industryfusion Ready and can therefore be integrated into smart factory environments. The machines provide real-time information on energy consumption, capacity utilization, process stability, machine statuses and performance parameters. This provides manufacturing companies with unprecedented transparency.

Microstep Europe is introducing another innovation with the integrated Xana AI Engine. The artificial intelligence supports operators with machine guidance, provides context-dependent recommendations, facilitates error analysis and enables predictive maintenance. This combination of mechanical engineering, digitalization and AI creates a system that goes beyond conventional laser cutting systems and opens up new potential for efficiency and process reliability for users.

“Whether 2D, 3D, compact or XXL: the X-Series combines precision, speed and digital intelligence in a modular system,” says Ried. According to him, this new machine family should not only enable manufacturers to make technical improvements, but also strengthen them strategically – by speeding up processes, reducing costs and simplifying the transition to the digital factory.
