Any company that wants to produce cost-effectively despite a shortage of skilled workers and an increasing variety of part designs needs flexible automation solutions. Bystronic is addressing this need with a new bending cell, which will be unveiled at Euroblech 2026 and is designed to significantly expand both part variety and machine autonomy.

The shortage of skilled workers, rising costs, and the desire for greater productivity are putting many sheet metal fabricators under pressure. At the same time, demand is growing for smaller batch sizes, shorter lead times, and greater product variety. Against this backdrop, automation in bending technology is becoming increasingly important. At Euroblech 2026, Bystronic will therefore introduce a new medium-sized bending cell designed specifically for greater flexibility and longer autonomous operation times. At the heart of the system is the automation-optimized Xpert Pro 150/2050 Extended. Compared to previous solutions, the machine was specifically designed for automated operation. Additional stroke, a larger opening, and the C-frame design expand the available workspace and enable the processing of a wider range of parts. Components that previously could only be bent with limited automation can now be manufactured within the same cell.
For users, this means, above all, greater flexibility in production planning. Different component geometries can be produced on a single machine without the need for separate production cells.
In addition to the variety of parts, process stability played a key role in the development. The bending cell features Bystronic’s Dynamic Crowning System, which is designed to ensure consistent angular accuracy across the entire bending length. This is complemented by the Laser Angle Measurement System (LAMS), which monitors the bending angle during the process and corrects it as needed. The combination of both technologies is designed to reduce scrap and help achieve reproducible results even during longer, unattended production runs.

Greater Autonomy Through Integrated Material Flow
Another key focus is on increasing machine autonomy. The new cell features an integrated four-meter-long conveyor line and can accommodate up to eight Euro pallets. This allows for material feeding and part removal over extended periods without operator intervention. Especially in times of tight labor markets, the ability to run production processes largely autonomously is becoming a decisive competitive factor.
The new bending cell is part of a broader automation strategy. At Euroblech, Bystronic will also showcase solutions for laser cutting, material flow, warehouse logistics, and digital production control. For example, an automated cutting environment featuring the Bycut 3015, Bytrans Modular, Bysort, and Byower Line demonstrates how individual process steps can be linked to form an integrated manufacturing system.
The Bysoft Suite ensures transparency in planning, production, and process monitoring. With the new medium-sized bending cell,
Bystronic is responding to a trend that is increasingly shaping the industry: automation is intended not only to speed up individual work steps but also to enable cost-effective production across the widest possible range of parts. The combination of greater part variety, high process reliability, and longer autonomous runtimes shows the direction in which modern bending manufacturing is heading.
