Against the backdrop of the rapidly changing international environment, in which new applications are spreading quickly and various industrial sectors are experiencing strong growth, the BLM Group is presenting itself in Düsseldorf under the motto “The Solution”. This leitmotif underlines the great importance it attaches to developing innovative production solutions that allow its customers to remain highly competitive in a constantly changing world. With its efficient, flexible and networked production solutions – which are based on the BLM Group’s more than 60 years of practical experience in pipe processing – it is at the forefront of technology.

Extreme bending without imperfections

If tubes can be bent at high performance with demanding degrees of difficulty and the parts are characterized by high quality after bending, compact and complex-shaped tube components can be produced. Designers are given greater freedom in the design of products. In this context, the BLM Group is presenting a solution in Düsseldorf that is one of the most complex applications it has ever realized. It underlines the high technical level she has achieved in tube bending.

This solution is an all-electric Elect150 tube bending machine that processes tubes with diameters of up to 150 mm. At the trade fair, she bends a 110 mm diameter tube with an average bending radius of just 90 mm for a design object.

Robotized work cell: no waste and maximum efficiency

In response to market demands to constantly increase the efficiency of production processes, certify them with regard to the required tolerances and make them independent of the experience and skills of the machine operators, the BLM Group is presenting a fully automated solution in Düsseldorf with two robots that handle parts between the following processes: Cutting and forming, high quality mandrel bending, nut insertion, second tube end forming and in-process dimensional inspection. This solution integrates a 3-runner with bar loading, a Smart tube bending machine, an AST8-VE forming machine and a telecentric measuring system. For example, it is ideally suited for the production of workpieces in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning sectors.

The widest working range for the most flexible use

The LT8.20 is a particularly versatile tube laser from the BLM Group with a fiber source for processing tubes with diameters from 12 mm to 240 mm. It is used in a wide range of industries such as building construction, the furniture and automotive industries or in the manufacture of frames for machine tools and window construction. This tube laser from the Lasertube family with 3D laser cutting head (configurable with up to 5 kW power) is characterized by its exceptional flexibility in production. At the trade fair, the BLM Group will be presenting a solution with an LT8.20, which is equipped with double loading and Active Tools technology.

The LT8.20 can be configured with a high degree of flexibility to meet individual customer requirements. It can be connected to automated warehouses, allowing entire production processes to be optimized. Work cell with tube laser, tube bending machine, robot and AGV This installation combines flexibility in production with automated work processes in the best possible way.

The solution presented is a fully automated system in which tube components marked with DataMatrix codes are scanned on a bending machine and the bending programs to be executed are selected automatically. The system consists of an E-Turn tube bending machine and an LT7 tube laser. A robot handles the pipes while an automated guided vehicle (AGV) transports them. This integrated solution has several advantages: the production process is characterized by high productivity and no manual intervention is required. It also offers the option of adjusting production quantities during operation without the need for operator intervention.

Extended possibilities in fiber laser cutting up to 305 mm diameter

Light metal alloys are increasingly being used in mechanical engineering and in the new energy sector. As a result, many metalworking companies need to be able to process tubes with larger diameters using a fiber laser. The BLM Group will also be presenting a solution for this requirement in Düsseldorf: its LT12 tube laser, which can cut tubes with diameters of up to 305 mm and lengths of up to 12.5 m with its fiber source. This machine is equipped with a 3D laser cutting head and processes pipes, beams, profiles of various open or closed cross-sections – at speeds comparable to those of smaller pipe lasers.

All services with one click

Where high-tech production systems are used, services such as maintenance and training are extremely important – so that the potential of the machines can be maximized in the long term. Customers must be able to access these services easily, conveniently and quickly. BLMportall is a solution for this. It allows customers to access their personal areas and manage a variety of different services for their production. On BLMportal, they can find information and documentation on their machines, access their production statistics, manage service tickets, interact with technical support and purchase consumables. They always stay up to date with their production. BLMportal provides convenient access to the entire BLM Group world.
