Die Vorgabe zur Neuentwicklung des Jorns Profil Manipulator JPM war, die Nachteile des JHS zu eliminieren, ohne die Flexibilität einzuschränken.  © Jorns

Jorns exhibited at Euroblech together with the manufacturers Krasser and Spółka Stolarczyk. This takes into account the customer requirement that the cutting system, bending machine, unwinder and rewinder must be combined and also communicate with each other in order to increase capacities, boost productivity and reduce throughput times, susceptibility to errors and material consumption.

The Jorns double bending machine (up to size JDB-200) can be optionally equipped with a curved clamping tool.
The additional bending space in front of the bending machine makes it possible to produce profiles with an aspect ratio of up to 1:2 with dimensional and angular accuracy.
The clamping tool for pressing envelopes remains stable as usual in order to absorb maximum hold-down and folding forces.
This optional machine equipment completes the considerable clearance already offered by the standard version, with a retraction of the bending tools of over 290 mm and the extraordinary clearance behind the clamping tool.
Good to know: Existing Jorns double bending machines can be converted to the new tool geometry, depending on the version.

Profile manipulator

To automate the loading, turning and unloading of a Jorns double bending machine, the Jorns handling system JHS or the interface to a robot were previously available. However, both solutions can only be used up to a machine length of 8 m. The requirement for the new development of the Jorns Profile Manipulator JPM was to eliminate the disadvantages of the JHS – massive and expensive – without restricting flexibility. The result was a system with a modular design that can be easily extended depending on the machine length. Vacuum suction units are available to pick up the flat sheet or the already bent bending profile, which can be automatically positioned in line or swiveled out by the C-axis depending on the situation. In addition, the vacuum suction units can be rotated around their own axis by the B-axis in order to pick up the sheet or profile in different positions, turn it over or set it down again at the end. Together with the Z-axis (up/down) and the X-axis (forwards/backwards), in conjunction with a Jorns JDB double bending machine equipped with a feed table, this automatically results in a dynamic and highly efficient bending cell for producing bending profiles productively and with minimal manpower. As an output system for the finished bending profiles, the customer has two solutions to choose from: the Jorns Ramp JR, manual output, or the Jorns Conveyor System JF, automatic output system: – The JPM places the finished bending profile on the Jorns Ramp JR, a manual output system. Due to its slightly inclined position, the bending profile glides on the rollers to the removal position. To avoid a profile jam, the output system is equipped with a sensor so that the JPM and the JDB only produce bending profiles for as long as the output system can hold finished bending profiles. – The JPM places the finished bending profile on the Jorns conveyor system JF with automatic output system. The driven roller chains convey the finished profiles to the removal position in a clocked sequence. To avoid a profile jam, the output system is equipped with a sensor so that the JPM and the JDB only produce bending profiles for as long as the output system can hold finished bending profiles. The Jorns conveyor system JF allows the user to produce bending profiles automatically for much longer without the intervention of an operator.

Simple teach-in programming

A manual control panel is used to control and program the desired work sequences for the material handling of the Jorns Profile Manipulator JPM.
This is possible in the simplest way with teach-in programming: the Jorns profile manipulator is moved step by step directly to the individual positions to be approached according to the program; the corresponding position values are recorded via the axis measuring systems and stored internally in the control system.
This is how the entire bending and manipulation program is created.
The advantage of this teach-in programming is that no knowledge of a programming language is required.
And: no additional robotics or CNC courses need to be attended after the teach-in.
Further advantages of the JPM – The JPM can be operated with or without the JS side feed.
– Sheets with a cutting width of up to 1250 mm can be loaded automatically.
– The half or fully finished profile can be transferred by the JPM from the top, front or bottom.
– The finished bending profile is not dropped after bending.
– The semi-finished bending profile is placed on the extended infeed tables when turning is required and slides against the stop system and not away from the machine.
This prevents the bending profile from sliding or falling off the infeed tables during the turning process.
– If necessary, the profile can be loaded directly into the clamping fingers after turning.
– If necessary, the profile can be removed directly from the clamping fingers after bending.
– The JDB can also be used as a stand-alone system for special jobs.
– No cables or guides are laid along the floor in the area of the JDB.

New control system for bending machine

More than 20 years have passed since the first CNC2000 graphics controller was launched.
During this time, there have been more than ten smaller and larger control generations, from the CNC500 to the CP300Twin, all of which have been based on the original concept and further developed.
With the increasing functionality of the bending machines, existing interfaces to higher-level software solutions or the connection to automation solutions, Jorns launched the project to develop a completely new control generation together with MicroSea, Vienna, six years ago.
Following the first presentation of the new JC100 machine controller (JC = Jorns Control) for the Jorns double bending machine JDB at Euroblech 2022, the JC100 controller for the Jorns bending machine JB will now be presented at Euroblech 2024.
It is planned that the Jorns bending machine JB with the new JC100 will be gradually introduced from the beginning of 2025.
In its minimum configuration, the new machine controller fulfills the capabilities of the existing CP200 machine controller.

New Office software

The office software “JC100 Office” can be installed on an office PC to create machine-specific bending programs for a Jorns bending machine.
The machine parameters and the bending programs are synchronized via shared libraries.

Direct integration

The new JC100 machine controller offers a direct interface to MicroSea’s Bendex Enterprise Suite.
This direct integration means that a bending profile consisting of bends, notches, holes, mitre cuts and so on can be obtained by the Jorns JC100 machine controller directly from the higher-level Bendex Enterprise Suite system.
Manual and file-based data export in a transfer format such as XML is therefore no longer necessary, but can still be used for other systems.

Direct interface

For customers who do not have a direct interface to Bendex Enterprise Suite, Jorns and Krasser offer a direct interface.
A cutting order is defined on the JC100 bending machine, whereby the bending profiles are exported to Krasser with the corresponding processing and length, profile name, quantity, material type and material thickness.
The required blanks are produced on the Krasser slitting machine and provided with an identification sticker including a QR code.
The QR code ensures the interface to the bending program, as the corresponding bending program can be called up on the JC100 for edging by scanning the code.
