Every Jorns JDB double bending machine comes with basic equipment that can be customized thanks to the modular machine design. The customer configures the machine according to their needs and planned applications.

With its sturdy design and box-shaped welded construction, the Jorns JDB double bending machine is designed for tough continuous operation. The hydraulically driven bending joints used on each upright and arm provide a maximum bending angle of 145° and bending angle accuracy over the full working length. The high closing force, which is responsible for precise bending and closed folds, can be developed by the clamping cylinders mounted on each clamping arm. The clamping cylinders can be controlled individually; this not only enables mechanically parallel closing of the clamping tool, but also pre-tensioned closing – the spring-back of the material when pressing envelopes is compensated. The result is measurably parallel folds on the profile.

Tool geometry

The sophisticated machine design also includes the “G” tool geometry, which has a clearance of 269° between the clamping tool and the bending beam in front of the machine. The bending beam, which is offset by 37°, enables the production of dimensionally accurate 90° hat profiles and façade plug-in profiles. The bending tools, which can be retracted by 290 mm, create as much space as possible in front of the machine: this allows profiles to be produced in an above-average variety of profiles without turning and rotating. The clamping tool, positioned at a 38° angle, allows a large internal clearance so that pre-folded profiles can be positioned as close as possible to the clamping point.

Machine safety

The basic equipment of the JDB is supplemented by a sophisticated safety system. Maximum safety is guaranteed at all times without restricting daily work with the machine, even when processing wavy material. The protective equipment around the machine and the light barriers used ensure safe, fully automatic operation. The use of a three-beam laser system reduces the risk of accidents during the closing movement of the clamping tool and when using the shears in semi-automatic operation.

Customized machine equipment

The modular mechanical machine design of the Jorns JDB double bending machine provides the basis for customized equipment. The customer defines the length from 3.2 to 12.2 m, the bending capacity up to a maximum of 3 mm sheet steel, the stop system, the type of shears and other options to be used.
The JDB makes it possible to bend even complex profiles simultaneously, as “multitasking” is pre-programmed into it. The free space behind the clamping tool with a retraction of the bending tools to over 290 mm offers an above-average amount of space: This allows bending profiles to be produced without turning and flipping. Several profiles can be bent parallel, conical or pluggable at the same time.

The use of servo technology, the automatic loading and unloading table and the individually driven clamping fingers ensure maximum precision, flexibility and productivity. Thanks to two bending tools, material handling is also radically reduced. The consistent calculation of the unwinding and stop positions according to the “bend shortening according to DIN 6935” method, intuitive graphic programming, high angular accuracy and evenly closed water folds are all on board with the JDB.

Complex graphic controller JC100 – easy to operate

The basic equipment of the Jorns double bending machine includes the JC100 graphic controller. It is the centerpiece and brings the fully automatic machine to life with all its inherent complexity. The operation is extremely simple: intuitive – as they say today. The fact is: After a short training period, the machine operator can already intuitively create profile sketches, operate and program the automatic stop system. The various components work together in perfect harmony: from the multi-touch screen with 21.5″ full HD (16:9), the SSD card, the I3 processor 3.7 GHz to the B&R hardware components. Regardless of whether the operator is programming directly at the machine or working upstream in the office with the offline software supplied, they can use the well-structured menu navigation to sketch and dimension the bending profile. If the customer requires remote maintenance, it is possible to access the machine via a team viewer, allowing Jorns to provide uncomplicated assistance with the application or possible troubleshooting.

Multi-nesting function: one of the innovative additional functions

There are also various additional functions that support the calculation of the desired profiles: the copy function, the mirror function or the innovative multi-nesting function. Multi-nesting allows profiles that can be inserted multiple times to be calculated automatically based on the insertion direction, overlap depth and conicity of the overall profile. This could be a drainage channel with a slope, for example, or simply a sloping connecting sheet. The final profile only “grows together” when the individual sections are plugged together. This makes the definition of complicated bending profiles particularly easy and then the practical execution with the Jorns double bending machine is also particularly perfect. The total length of such a plug-in profile can be much longer than the working surface of the double bending machine. In fact, the profile can be extended to any desired length with additional sub-profiles.

Jorns at the Blechexpo

Jorns AG will be exhibiting at Blechexpo together with the manufacturers Gebr. Spiegel AG and Spółka Stolarczyk as well as with the joint local sales and service partner Maschinen Stockert in Hall 1, Stand 1311. The joint appearance has the advantage for customers that the “complete package” can be shown and offered to them as a solution on just a few square meters. The three manufacturers are closing this gap under the motto “Together we are strong”. Jorns will be presenting the JDB-150G-HM-DP-SE-1250-JC100-6.4-dsp double bending machine, equipped with the 1250 automated side feed system and the JC100 machine controller, which offers a direct interface to MicroSea’s Bendex Enterprise Suite.
