Mobile testing devices are a must for service and calibration technicians: regular maintenance and system calibration of sensors on presses and assembly lines is only possible with the right equipment. A measurement technology manufacturer is now presenting a suitable device for this purpose.
With the Trans Cal 7281, Burster Präzisionsmesstechnik GmbH & Co. KG from Gernsbach offers a field-proven high-precision calibration and testing device for mechanical and electrical variables. According to the supplier, it is the Swiss army knife for service technicians.

16 programs for flexible sensor configuration
The calibration and test device is suitable for calibrating and function testing potentiometer or strain gauge sensors for force, torque, displacement or pressure measurement. Together with a sensor, it can also be used as a reference measuring chain. In addition to manual operation, the current version offers 16 programs for the flexible configuration of different sensors. Sensor parameters are automatically adopted for devices with Burster TEDS.
Connected to a PC via a USB interface, the device can be used for live measurements in static or slow dynamic processes, for example for long-term monitoring in the field. With an internal measuring rate of up to 10 kHz, an automatic trigger function and a memory of 30,000 measured values, the calibration and test device can also be used independently to record rare, short events. In this way, the historical course of use can be precisely documented. Transferred to a PC or notebook, the data allows users to analyze the system.
The Plus version also offers a strain gauge simulation, a precision voltage source for automated testing or calibration of devices such as sensor amplifiers or display electronics as well as the sensor test functions zero point and calibration step. A Wheatstone full-bridge simulator for calibrating measuring amplifiers and a high-precision voltage source from 0 to 10 V DC further extend the range of applications. With a non-linearity of measurements below 0.001 %, a compact housing and all additional parts that affect precision, such as test cables and plugs, it is an indispensable part of mobile service equipment, according to the manufacturer.
Calibration and testing device designed for practical use
The device is protected against drops and impacts in a robust aluminum frame for everyday testing in the field. Predefined command sets, for example for amplifier test with 1:100 or ramp measurement 0-50-100 %, enable quick calibration of sensors and measuring amplifiers.
Presets for certain sensors and an optional DAkkS/factory calibration certificate for the device or the entire measuring chain are available. The replaceable battery cells can also be replaced by readily available alkaline batteries in an emergency; the battery and power supply unit are included in the scope of delivery. An aluminum case is available as an option, allowing the user to store components in it and transport them to the place of use in a protected manner.
