Blackbird Robot Systems, a provider of robot-assisted laser welding, and Lessmüller Lasertechnik, a manufacturer of monitoring systems for industrial welding processes, are merging under the new company name Iqlase. Both companies were already part of Tecinvest Holding AG.
The merger will create a provider of sensor technology, process monitoring, and scanner and software systems for industrial laser processing. Both companies have experience in complementary application areas. While Blackbird Robotersysteme specializes in systems for remote laser welding, on-the-fly processing, scanner controls, and intuitive control software, Lessmüller Lasertechnik offers optical process sensors, OCT technology, and in-process quality assurance. The existing brand names—Blackbird and Lessmüller—will continue to be used at the product level. The Iqlase management team consists of the former sole managing directors, Dr. Rüdiger Brockmann and Richard Steinbrecht.
