Bruderer unveiled the second model in its new cost-optimized BSTL series of fixed-stroke automatic punching presses at the Stanztec trade show in Pforzheim. The machine, called the BSTL 610-150, features the new B3 machine control system and the BSV 250L servo feed unit, offering productivity, energy efficiency, and process reliability for mass production.

According to Bruderer, the series was developed specifically for cost-effective and reliable mass production of large quantities. It offers high availability and minimal changeover time and is suitable for applications in the AI and electronics industries, as well as in rotor-stator manufacturing. In addition to stamping and packaging machines, the Swiss machine manufacturer is primarily targeting two market segments: producers of components such as backplane connectors and cooling fins for hyperscale data centers, as well as manufacturers of connectors for the electronics industry and process technology.

30% less energy consumption

This new model adds a larger version to the BSTL 350-88 fixed-stroke automatic punch press, which was introduced in 2023. Its 15-kW motor generates a nominal pressing force of 610 kN, making it suitable even for long dies. The die mounting opening measures 1,500 mm, the strip feed width extends up to 340 mm, and the ram stroke is 64 mm.
The automatic punching machine is available in several models with fixed stroke lengths. With a stroke length of 19 mm, the machine achieves up to 850 strokes per minute. At 25.4 mm, up to 830 strokes per minute are possible; at 31.8 mm, 730 strokes per minute; at 38 mm, 670 strokes per minute; and at 50.8 mm, up to 580 strokes per minute.
According to the company, the drive system reduces energy consumption by about 30% compared to comparable automatic punching machines.

New B3 Machine Control System

The new automatic punching machine will be delivered with the B3 machine control system. It was first unveiled in 2023 at the Blechexpo trade show on the BSTL 350-88 and was also introduced for the BSTA series in 2025. According to the manufacturer, this new development is based on experience gained from more than 5,000 installed B and B2 control systems.
The system is operated via a 21-inch touchscreen with a tile view. All functions of the automatic punching machine and its peripherals—including components from other manufacturers—can be controlled centrally. The BSV 250L servo feed unit is fully integrated into the control system. Via OPC UA interfaces, the system also supports data exchange with machines, production control systems, and IIoT applications.
The control system features a role-based access system with predefined user permissions. This is designed to reduce operating errors. Machine and process parameters—such as tool data, clamping force, and position—are clearly displayed on the operator screen.
In addition, an envelope curve function monitors changes in individual process parameters, allowing punching errors to be detected early on. Diesels, sliders, and rotary stations can be programmed at the push of a button using an automatic parameterization system. According to the manufacturer, this eliminates the need for manual programming of these components.

Servo feed with strip thickness measurement

The scope of delivery also includes the BSV 250L servo feeder. It processes strip material up to 250 mm wide and 4 mm thick. According to the manufacturer, with feed lengths between 0 and 1,000 mm, the system achieves a positioning accuracy of ±0.03 mm at up to 850 strokes per minute.
The system features a patented strip thickness measurement system that detects material variations with an accuracy of ±0.01 mm. Furthermore, the system compensates for roller contamination and runout errors of the feed rollers. The feed can be used as a pull or push system, or in a combination of two feeds for simultaneous pull and push transport.
