After processing raw materials for battery masses, Gebrüder Lödige Maschinenbau GmbH is now also presenting process technology solutions for the other end of the lithium battery production chain at Achema 2024: As the company will be demonstrating at its stand (Hall 6.0, Stand C4), plowshare mixers designed for specific applications produce equally impressive results in battery recycling.

Electromobility is the trend: in Germany alone, more than 10 million electric vehicles are expected to be on the road by 2030. Accordingly, the demand for lithium batteries is increasing – and for high-performance production systems to meet this demand. The preparation of the processed materials, both at the beginning and at the end of the product life cycle, places the highest quality demands on the machines used. These are often at the limits of what is technically feasible.

Application-specific plowshare mixers

Lödige Maschinenbau meets this challenging process engineering task with special versions of the plowshare mixers. For example, contamination of the cathode masses by foreign ions, especially iron, must be avoided at all costs. The mixer drum and the mixing elements are therefore ceramic-coated. As the battery masses also contain toxic and carcinogenic components such as cobalt, uncontrolled leakage of the fine powdery substances must be prevented at all costs. Modern, application-specific sealing systems guarantee a tightness that is superior to classic stuffing box packing. Lödige Maschinenbau not only supplies the mixer(s), however. As a solution provider, the company supports the customer in the implementation of the entire system, from planning through to commissioning. Web: www.loedige.de
