A new 800-ton servo press from Nidec Arisa with a highly dynamic transfer system increases capacity at Craemer’s German plant in Attendorn. In the metal forming business segment, the Craemer Group develops, designs and manufactures precision stamped and formed parts. With its large-scale production of metal components, it is one of the leading international suppliers to various sectors such as the automotive, fittings, large household appliances and heating appliance industries.
As a supplier to the international automotive industry for decades, the Attendorn plant has been part of the Craemer Group as a metalworking subsidiary since 2015. At the Attendorn site, the focus of production is on precision stamped parts for automobiles, such as belt system components and fittings and connecting elements for seat structures. The products, which weigh between ten and 500 grams, are now supplied to automotive suppliers as well as producers of white goods, the fittings industry and other sectors in Europe, Asia and South America.
The Spanish Nidec-Arisa Group is the new partner for presses – thanks to its great flexibility and high technical standards. The Arisa S-2-800-400-180-SP servo press with a pressing force of 8000 kilonewtons and a table length of four meters has been expanding capacities in the upper pressing force range for two years.

“The materials are becoming increasingly stronger,” explains Thomas Burholt, Managing Director of Craemer Attendorn GmbH & Co. KG, “which is why a higher press force is required to form the metal parts.” The machine park currently comprises seven modern presses with forces between 3150 and 8000 KN, with table lengths of two and a half to four meters – for processing sheet metal up to five millimeters thick made of steel or non-ferrous metals.
Burholt also emphasizes the services: “To achieve compatibility with the existing machinery, Arisa has also adapted the standard press to our needs, including the coil infeed for the transfer, the table size and the installation height.”
The 8000 KN press has also proven itself because the peripheral devices are fully integrated into the control system. “This simplifies operation and the process, all the threads come together in one place,” praises the Attendorn Managing Director. “Accordingly, the employees were comprehensively trained in an Arisa workshop in order to be able to use the press optimally,” he adds. Other plus points include Arisa’s global customer service network and the fact that “many of the press’s standard components are easy to procure”.
