The Rosenberger Group, based in Fridolfing, Upper Bavaria, with more than 15,000 employees worldwide, supplies customers from the telecommunications, data technology, medical electronics, industrial measurement technology, automotive electronics and electromobility sectors with connection solutions that are used in particular in high-frequency, fiber optic and high-voltage technology. With this in mind, Rosenberger Stanztechnik GmbH & Co. KG complements the existing stamped parts production: The subsidiary focuses on the production of sophisticated, high-precision contact parts for the automotive, telecommunications and electronics industries.
Rosenberger Stanztechnik, based in Neuenbürg near Pforzheim, has its own toolmaking and design department. The latter has been using the Stampack Xpress simulation software since January 2022. “During the selection process, we were particularly impressed by Stampack’s interface to our existing VisiI CAD system and the handling adapted to toolmaking,” emphasizes Stefan Maier, Head of the Technical Competence Center (TCC) at Rosenberger Stanztechnik. “Stampack provides us with excellent services, especially when it comes to method planning during layout creation and feasibility queries. This has enabled us to reduce coordination times by saving on change loops.”
Without changing the simulation definition, Stampack calculates an initial estimate with the fast shell solver and then an exact description of the forming process in the volume. Springback and its compensation calculation are also included, as is the tolerance check, which can be used in the software to check compliance with production tolerances and graphically display deviations. The fast volume solver accurately simulates the processes involved in forming thick sheets and material compaction and is therefore also ideal for simulating progressive processes.
Stampack has absolutely fulfilled the expectations of the specialists at Rosenberger Stanztechnik. In the past, the coordination work for some projects was very time-consuming and cost-intensive for very complex products with step changes. After all, the geometry of the circuit board had to be determined, in some cases over several tests, and support had to be provided for product development and feasibility analysis.
“Thanks to Stampack, we were able to achieve the goals we set ourselves, such as shortening tool tuning times and therefore faster throughput times. In addition, we can now save resources and production capacity thanks to fewer recursions and detect blank cracks at an early stage during heavy forming,” says Stefan Maier, drawing a positive conclusion. “In addition to the short calculation times of the volume solver, we particularly like the user-friendliness of the software, which has enabled our designers to visualize even complex forming processes on the computer in a very short time. These consistently positive experiences with Stampack have led to the software now also being used at Rosenberger Hochfrequenztechnik GmbH’s headquarters in Fridolfing.”
