The Bavarian company Data M Sheet Metal Solutions GmbH presented the new version of Copra RF with numerous new features at Euroblech 2024. The highlights of version 2025 include significant improvements to the Form Modification Technology (FTM) module and integration with Bricscad from Bricsys NV as a further CAD system alongside Autocad from Autodesk. The new version is scheduled for release in 2024.
The Copra RF FTM (Forming Technology Module) determines maximum values of longitudinal strain. This allows projects to be checked for feasibility quickly and without detailed tool design and FEA simulation. Version 2025 of Copra RF offers numerous significant improvements to the module: The new function for real-time monitoring of longitudinal strains allows designers to track the effects directly in a separate window or on a second monitor. Changes to the forming flower do not require the calculation module to be called up again and the workflow is not interrupted. Changes to the processing in the Copra spreadsheet project are also displayed in real time in the FTM window. This significantly improves the workflow. Thanks to the intuitive user interface, the user can also easily switch between different views and diagram types, analyze forming parameters such as strip edge elongation or strain progression and select specific stations or stitches to be displayed in the FTM diagrams or in Copra. The 3D view of the selected stations can also be rotated in the FTM window, and the FTM results are updated immediately while work is being carried out on the profile flower.
Now also with Bricscad support
Data M has been offering its Copra RF design software for roll forming for almost 40 years now and has relied on the market-leading Autocad CAD software from Autodesk for a user-friendly interface right from the start. With the new release of Copra RF, there is now an alternative solution: Copra RF 2025 supports another CAD system in addition to Autocad 2025: Bricscad 24. Bricscad is a CAD software developed by the Belgian company Bricsys NV (part of Hexagon AB). As an alternative to Autocad, it offers similar functions for creating and editing 2D drawings and 3D models and also supports the DWG file format – the native format of Autocad. This enables seamless collaboration between users of both systems. Managing Director Maximilian Sedlmaier emphasizes: “Copra RF 2025 offers the full range of functions with both Autocad and Bricscad without any restrictions compared to the proven Autocad integration. This means we offer even more flexibility in the choice of software.”
