Man, machine, tool – the perfect interaction of these three components is what makes the production of high-precision active parts possible in the first place. That is why MPK as an expert in stamping and forming technology, Tecno.team as a specialist for high-quality CNC machine tools and Zecha as pioneers and trendsetters in the field of micro cutting tools have joined forces.
For 25 years Tecno.team has been successful on the European market with high-quality CNC machine tools in the field of milling and grinding. Well-known manufacturers from Europe and Japan offer in cooperation with Tecno.team not only their machine solutions, but an overall concept for highest accuracy. With the portfolio of leading Japanese high-end machine tools from Amaca Machinery Europe and Yasda Precision Tools, Tecno.team has made a name for itself in the field of grinding and milling machines.
“We see ourselves as a link between the best providers of modern technology and our customers. Together we transform needs and requirements into tailor-made solutions. Our highest goal is one hundred percent customer satisfaction,” says Ben Scherr, Managing Director Tecno.team.
The past months were used at Tecno.team to complete the Technical Center.
To ensure that the maximum precision of the high-end machines can be used and presented, the Tecno.team has created the best conditions in the Technical Center with currently five machines and the specially integrated measuring technology room.
The premises are climate-controlled and monitored with temperature and humidity gradients in order to maintain the required limits – an absolute must for the high quality standards. The Zeiss Prismo-Varity coordinate measuring machine, which measures with an accuracy of 0.7+L/400 μm, is used to demonstrate the precision achieved.
For µ-precise production Tecno.team works together with the leading manufacturers MPK Special Tools and Zecha, among others.
The partners want to show what the highest precision means in combination with the precision machines used. Yasda, for example, offers highly process-reliable and economical machining for milled parts in small to medium quantities thanks to the continuous development of new technologies. Precise manufacturing brings enormous advantages, as evidenced by reduced tooling and rework costs, among other things.
MPK has also made this experience. The Yasda Micro Center YMC 430 is a state-of-the-art high-end machine whose capabilities allow it to meet the ever-increasing demands for precision and surface finishes in micromachining. The three axes (X, Y and Z) driven by linear motors, the in-house developed spindle, the very rigid, symmetrical design of the machine body and the special thermal stabilization all contribute to the precision on the workpiece.
At MPK Special Tools, the machine is used for the production of high-precision punching and forming tools made of carbide and hardened steel, thus producing the required precision of the tools. For the grinding work, MPK Special Tools relies on the Amada Master series, which guarantees high surface quality and accuracy due to its precise mechanical design and has short machining times thanks to the quick-stroke system.
MPK Special Tools has, based on experience, created a professional milling department to optimize solid carbide machining.
Conditions such as optimal air conditioning and highly qualified CAM programming make high-precision carbide milling possible. For CAM programming on the Yasda, MPK Special Tools uses the so-called CAM tool, which was specially developed for micro components with the highest requirements. The tool dimensions range from 0.1 to 6 mm diameter.
MPK Special Tools from Schwäbisch Gmünd can look back on almost 70 years of experience in carbide machining. As a service provider for carbide milling, the company from Schwäbisch Gmünd has set itself the task of making particularly wear-intensive tools, for example for the contact stamping industry, more resistant and efficient in order to increase their service life and thus reduce costs.
This has been achieved with a new customer-specific punching tool, a nano embossing punch, which has been designed and manufactured in both convex and concave shapes with a tolerance of ±0.005 mm. The entire contour of the Nano carrier is milled from solid carbide. The milling process compacts the surface, giving it a significantly better Ra value of up to 0.03 μm compared to EDM. Also, milling does not cause edge layer damage due to energy input – the “white zone” that occurs during EDM – and micro-cracks in the carbide. Another great advantage of milling is the optimized design possibilities and the 100 percent reproducibility of the geometry of the active part.
A nano-carrier produced by milling enables up to 70 percent faster runs as well as high reproducibility, which cannot be guaranteed with eroded embossing dies. In addition, it does not have to be elaborately finished by polishing or micro-blasting, for example.
All in all, the new nano-carrier makes numerous machining processes even more economical. It is particularly suitable for progressive dies in the contact stamping industry, where moulds are produced in large quantities.
The nano embossing stamp was implemented at MPK Special Tools using cutting tools from Zecha Hartmetall-Werkzeugfabrikation GmbH.
As a long-standing partner of MPK Special Tools, Zecha offers high-precision micro-machining, punching and forming tools, drawing on almost 60 years of experience. With state-of-the-art technologies and high quality, the precision tool manufacturer develops solutions for unusual applications and a wide variety of materials.
Originating from the watch industry, the uncompromising focus on miniature tools is not only reflected in the extensive stock program, but also in the special tool solutions. The practical development of new tools facilitates the machining of difficult materials such as solid carbide, ceramics, hardened steel, tungsten copper.
