At Euroblech, Maxphotonics, a leading manufacturer of laser technology, presented its innovation in the field of hand-held laser welding machines: the Theo Ma1 Ultra. With its diode light pump technology, the company has made significant progress in terms of efficiency, precision, sustainability and time savings.
With the Theo Ma1 Ultra, Maxphotonics is launching a completely new generation of hand-held laser welding devices on the German market. At the heart of this innovation are optimized diode light pumps that enable a 25 percent increase in efficiency.
Thanks to fully automated manufacturing processes, the company can now also use the highly efficient diodes, which were specially developed for industrial applications, cost-effectively in hand-held laser welding devices. Laser diodes act as precise light sources that supply the laser medium with energy and generate significantly less heat than conventional lasers. The Theo Ma1 Ultra is suitable for welding a wide range of materials, including stainless steel, aluminum and galvanized steel.
In cooperation with Maxphotonics’ internal laser R&D department, the laser diodes of the high-power fiber laser of the Pro45 series were specially developed for use in handheld lasers. This technology enables the handheld laser device to meet the highest efficiency requirements and achieve exceptional performance.

Advantages of the Theo Ma1 Ultra compared to conventional systems
Compared to traditional hand-held laser welding systems, the Theo Ma1 Ultra offers numerous advantages and is particularly suitable for applications in the automotive and aerospace industries, food and kitchen technology as well as plant and container construction:
– Efficiency: Thanks to advanced and fully automated manufacturing processes, Maxphotonics guarantees consistently high quality and precision in the production of diode modules. This precise production ensures that the diodes make optimum use of the energy supplied, which reduces losses and improves energy utilization. The result: a 25 percent increase in efficiency compared to conventional laser welding systems.
– Time savings and productivity: The Theo Ma1 Ultra is up to 10 times faster than conventional welding methods, such as TIG welding, resulting in significant time savings. At the same time, the device can be operated for longer without overheating or interruptions thanks to its higher efficiency and reduced heat generation. Both factors increase the productivity and cost-effectiveness of production processes.
– Longevity: More efficient energy use and reduced heat generation mean that the laser components are subject to less thermal stress. This results in less wear and tear and extends the service life of the laser source, as the components can work reliably for longer under optimum conditions. The use of gold-plated pump diodes and highly efficient ventilation elements ensures that the laser components are subject to significantly less wear compared to other devices. This guarantees constant performance over many years without any losses.
– Stable laser power: Due to the lower thermal load, the laser power remains constant, resulting in consistently high welding quality. In addition, the integrated wobble control, which uses a movement sequence specially adapted to the parameter set, ensures optimum energy distribution in the weld seam in order to meet the highest quality requirements. This is particularly important in areas where precision and reliability are essential.
– Compact design & mobility: Thanks to the reduced heat load, the Theo Ma1 Ultra does not require extensive cooling and is air-cooled, resulting in a more compact design. This makes the system lighter, mobile and ideal for flexible use, for example at the customer’s premises, on construction sites and in workshops, without being tied to stationary systems. – Ergonomics and user-friendliness: The space-saving design makes the Theo Ma1 Ultra easier to handle and more user-friendly. This not only leads to more efficient work processes, but also reduces the strain on the operator. With a training period of just two hours, the Theo Ma1 Ultra is quickly ready for use, and the improved ergonomics increase productivity and safety so that the device can be used more safely and comfortably over longer periods of time. Sustainability and future-proofing In addition to its efficiency and performance, the Theo Ma1 Ultra also makes an important contribution to smarter and more resource-efficient production processes. Thanks to its modern technology, it reduces energy consumption by up to 80 % compared to conventional welding methods and a further 10 % compared to its predecessors in the Ma1 series. The improved energy efficiency and longer service life of the laser source contribute to more environmentally friendly production processes. At a time when energy efficiency and sustainability are becoming increasingly important, the Theo Ma1 Ultra is a future-proof investment for industrial users.
