Mechatronic solutions for the metalworking industry

At Euroblech, Bonfiglioli presented all its expertise in the development of complete solutions. These solutions combine both industrial and precision gearboxes with motors and servomotors up to IE5 as well as frequency inverters, often developed together with the main players in the sector and designed for light, medium and heavy-duty applications.

Six high-quality solutions for six different applications

The first package, designed for roller tables, can be used to handle all types of ferrous and non-ferrous products during the transformation process or storage phase. It combines a 300 series planetary gearbox, which offers a high overload capacity and allows torque control, with a BSR series synchronous reluctance motor, which integrates high-precision sensorless control technology, and a decentralized DGM inverter mounted directly on the geared motor. As the inverter is supplied directly with the gearmotor, Bonfiglioli takes care of the mechanical assembly, wiring and basic programming, reducing installation time, cost and complexity. In addition, it has a high degree of protection (in accordance with IP65) and is therefore able to withstand harsh and dusty environments within the production line.

The second solution was developed for handling and storage systems of semi-finished sheet metal products. It consists of a helical bevel geared motor from the A series, which is compact in combination with a permanent magnet synchronous motor from the BMD series. The motor is characterized by a low moment of inertia and meets the highest demands in terms of precision, dynamics and speed. An ANG Active Next Generation servo inverter is also used. This integrates a microcontroller that ensures advanced functions such as cyclic synchronous positioning mode through cubic interpolation, brake control and feedback contact evaluation. The solution is also equipped with Z and W sensors, the so-called IoT sensors, which support the predictive maintenance system and condition monitoring system and provide real-time data on vibrations and temperature. The third solution for sheet metal bending was designed for heavy-duty applications and dynamic processes. It consisted of a 300 series planetary gearbox with hydraulic drive configuration that can be adapted to all customer requirements for hydraulic motors. It thus reflects Bonfiglioli’s broad spectrum of systems, ranging from electronics and hydraulics to mechatronics and mechanics. The fourth solution for dished ends and flanging machines also requires heavy-duty products due to the nature of the process. The product package presented consisted of a helical bevel gearbox from the HDO series, which ensures high torque, robustness, reliability and a long service life, as well as a three-phase IE3 asynchronous motor from the BX series. This combination drives the axis of the machine for processing thick metal plates. The intralogistics and storage system solutions were represented by an F-series parallel shaft helical geared motor with BX motor and the ACU (Active Cube) closed-loop frequency inverter, which is efficient, reliable and quiet. The last purely mechatronic solution included a precision planetary gearbox from the MP series, combined with a brushless BMD servo motor and the new AxiaVert premium frequency inverter. This solution offers modularity, a wide range of torques and dimensions, high dynamics and safety functions. It can detect potentially unsafe situations without the need for additional sensors or cabling. The solution presented at the trade fair stand is suitable for laser cutting systems, both for metal tubes and for sheet metal plates.
