Tool changes are a critical step in high-precision waterjet cutting. After a cutting tool has been changed, careful calibration is required to ensure that precision is maintained. It requires both expertise and skill to do this quickly and well. With the new “Auto TCP Calibration Tool” from Water Jet Sweden, calibration is done automatically. It takes only a fraction of the time, requires no special skills and gives very accurate results.
The “Auto TCP Calibration Tool” consists of special software that is integrated into the machine control, a measuring probe with a base plate and a calibration ball. It is used for all types of angle cutting and is therefore used on all machines with Alphajet, Beveljet or FiveX cutting heads.
For an experienced operator, manual calibration normally takes 15 to 30 minutes, says Stefan Johansson, System Developer at Water Jet Sweden. With little experience, it can take even longer. With the new “Auto TCP Calibration Tool”, however, the measurement only takes 3 to 5 minutes. More importantly, however, it eliminates the human factor and thus minimizes the risk of errors and inaccuracies. In addition, all changes are saved in a log.
The “Auto TCP Calibration Tool” product was first presented in the USA at the Fabtech trade fair in Orlando. A few weeks later, it was also on show at Euroblech in Hanover.
