Wikus-Sägenfabrik Wilhelm H. Kullmann GmbH Co KG presented its sharpened(!) and significantly optimised bimetal product portfolio at the Emo in Milan. Customers also benefit from services that are specially tailored to their needs.

“Whether metal construction or the steel industry, increasing competitive pressure is being felt across all industrial sectors. In order to provide customers with the best possible support in this environment, we have made our bimetal product portfolio more customer-oriented and further expanded our services,” explains Michael Möller, Wikus Managing Director of the Business Group and Sales Division, and adds: “Through such measures, Wikus offers its customers and partners maximum additional benefits beyond sawing tools.”

With the upgrade of the bimetal range, Wikus offers customers more flexibility in the application spectrum and more clarity in the selection process when sawing metal. The focus of the new range is on one central product in each of the performance levels 1 and 2, making it easier for customers to select the right band saw blade. In future, you will be able to choose between two clearly differentiated products for almost all common applications.

The heart of the optimized bimetal product range are the Marathon M42 and Primar M42 bandsaw blades. For service-oriented users, Marathon M42 is the all-rounder in the Level 2 range. The bimetal saw band is optimized for more complex performance and support requirements in the sawing process, such as those required for industrial applications, and covers an even wider range of applications. The saw band is also suitable for all steels and non-ferrous metals, large batch sizes and all cross-sections with diameters up to 1400 mm.

Primar M42 is aimed at cost-conscious customers as an economical basic solution in the Level 1 range. The saw band is particularly suitable for all steels and non-ferrous metals, small batch sizes and small to medium cross-sections with diameters up to 900 mm.

Marathon M42 and Primar M42 will in future cover almost all common applications in the bimetal sector in the corresponding dimensions. For special applications in profile machining, the product Proflex with profile tooth, special types of setting as well as with coating is also available. For materials that are difficult to machine or for the highest cutting performance, Wikus also offers band saw blades with different coatings or in the X3000 version.

The Wikus service and advice is available to customers and dealers when they purchase Wikus saw tools. These services are tailored to the needs of the different application groups. With the purchase of a new Marathon M42, the services are included and are individually tailored and provided to the customer’s needs; with the purchase of a Primar M42, they can be added as required. This means that the right service package can be provided individually for each user group.

In addition to the service extension, Marathon M42 and Primar M42 have also been technically improved. They now convince with super finishing, improved setting accuracy as well as increased tooth tip quality. Particularly noteworthy is the new solvent-free corrosion protection, which not only enables better weldability, but also brings the issue of sustainability into focus. This reflects Wikus’ recently awarded sustainable orientation: the company received the bronze label of the EcoVadis platform in 2021 for environmentally conscious procurement and production.

In addition, customers benefit from digital solutions that offer many advantages beyond the sawing tools. Digital tools and services such as WIstockIT, which automates ordering processes, or the app-based cutting data program ParaMaster provide information. For the latter, Marathon M42 and Primar M42 are also equipped with high-quality tape printing including QR codes so that cutting parameters can be quickly queried and adjusted.

WIstockIT, meanwhile, opens up new options for customers in the digitalization of procurement processes, reduces costs in purchasing and logistics and thus offers sustainable added value. As a holistic solution provider, Wikus takes on administrative tasks, relieves customers of time-consuming processes and accompanies them on their way to digitalization – which closes the circle to the Emo 2021 guiding theme “Digital Factory”.

An additional focus during the trade fair will be on the high-performance Kreos circular saw blade: According to Wikus, it sets “standards in the cutting of thin-walled tubes and profiles” and, with its patented joining technology, is recommended for customers who value high cutting performance, as well as for frequent saws with mass cuts. A smaller, more variable tooth pitch ensures a cutting performance that is – according to the manufacturer – “up to 40 percent higher than competitor products”.
