What Hans-Paul Kaysser founded in 1947 in a backyard in Stuttgart is today a valued component and system supplier with a partnership approach and over 400 employees. The resourceful Swabians develop and manufacture intelligent and economical system solutions for business partners who rely on experience, competence and innovation in metalworking. The anniversary is celebrated with a party for the employees in May.

“We are delighted about the 75th anniversary of the company and this not everyday milestone. It is also a reward for all our efforts, the will to persevere in difficult times and our endeavor to be there for our customers as an independent system partner with investments and innovations,” emphasizes Thomas Kaysser, managing partner of H.P. Kaysser GmbH + Co. KG.

February 17, 2022 marked the 75th anniversary of the company’s founding by his father, Hans-Paul Kaysser. What began as a mechanical workshop in a backyard in the south of Stuttgart has developed over the years into a modern and agile metalworking company through inventiveness, innovative solutions and perseverance – even in difficult times. A product developer and contract manufacturer has become a respected component and system supplier with more than 400 employees who think in terms of partnership.
A grandiose machine park, combined with great vertical integration and renowned customers, reflect the passion for metalworking.

Skill and entrepreneurial spirit characterize the company to this day

After the war, the founder had come up with a stove for his mother to heat, bake and cook, and had assembled it from rubble and scraps. Because it then always smells good of food in Stuttgart’s Böheimstrasse, other residents and neighbors also want to have such an oven. Word quickly spreads that there is a resourceful tinkerer in the south of Stuttgart who makes urgently needed things out of metal. As a result, Hans-Paul Kaysser Apparatebau is founded. The Stuttgart Chamber of Crafts notes in the foundation charter of February 17, 1947, the requirement that the founder pass his master craftsman’s examination by December 31, 1948.

A branch office in Winnenden in 1958 and the new building in 1977 at the current location bear witness to the company’s growth. This is also illustrated – despite several crises – by the constant expansions up to the present day. These result from regular innovations and investments. As early as 1982, for example, the company’s own IT company was involved in optimizing administration by means of PCs. In 1984, the first laser system and in 1985 the first CNC punching machine from Trumpf are located in Nellmersbach, and more recently a state-of-the-art powder coating system. Thus, the company’s rise to today’s H. P. Kaysser GmbH + Co. KG with an annual turnover of around 50 million euros is unstoppable.

Agile company – innovative and independent

Nevertheless, the company’s development is not a foregone conclusion. Thus, the history is characterized by changes with moves, expansions but also strokes of fate. The most serious was certainly the early death of the company’s founder Hans-Paul Kaysser, who died in 1981 at the age of only 61. It is all the more significant for the four shareholders that they have kept the company as an independent family business to this day and have developed it into a leading company in the field of sheet metal processing.

Since 2007, a subsidiary in Romania has acted as an extended workbench for labor-intensive parts. The founding of the online ordering platform Laserteile4You in 2010 is not only a pioneering achievement, but also a revolutionary blow to the industry. As a medium-sized component and system supplier in metalworking, H. P. Kaysser produces ready-to-install parts in a high vertical range of manufacture, from simple sheet metal parts to highly complex assemblies equipped with electronics. From engineering through the complete sheet metal process chain to logistics, intelligent and economical solutions are created for loyal customers.

On an area of 30,000 m², the company combines mechanical manufacturing, fully automated metalworking and services related to the products. Steel, cast iron, stainless steel, titanium, non-ferrous metals and aluminum in all variations are machined. What is not produced in-house is contributed by long-standing partners from the region. This means that the lively Swabians are able to deliver even in critical times.

Committed to business and society

For many regular customers from a wide range of industries, the Nellmersbach-based company is often also a development and strategy partner for demanding tasks. And when customers come with only a vague idea, the creative designers think in terms of a marketable product into the future of what is feasible. Furthermore, the company works in long-term cooperations for customers who want to reduce their own vertical range of manufacture, outsource competencies and are looking for a top outsourcing partner for their components.

Social commitment is also very important to Thomas Kaysser. This is demonstrated not only by the permanent training of young skilled workers in the company’s own learning factory, but also by the inclusion of disabled people and people with an immigrant background, as well as refugees who otherwise have few opportunities for training. In 2022, the award-winning H. P. Kaysser GmbH + Co. KG, which has received several awards for its work, will celebrate its 75th anniversary.
