The Weingarten site and production at the Gemmingen site are to be closed.
Schuler’s management has informed employee representatives about the details of the planned restructuring.
According to the plan, a total of 474 jobs are to be cut across Germany, distributed differently among the sites.
The Weingarten site is to be closed, with some of the jobs being relocated to other German sites.
In addition, the closure of production and capacity adjustments in other areas in Gemmingen are planned.
“The economic environment for our customers in the automotive industry and therefore also for machine and plant manufacturers like us has deteriorated further in recent times,” explains Dr. Joachim Schönbeck, CEO of Schuler’s parent company Andritz.
“We therefore see this as confirmation that we should now take these measures. However, we will take care not to jeopardize the growth of our service business. Our customers can therefore continue to rely on receiving the best possible support from us for the operation of their systems.”
The 474 jobs to be cut at Schuler in Germany already include the production areas at the Erfurt site that are to be sold.
Schuler’s management would now like to immediately start talks with employee representatives on the implementation of the measures and conclude them by the end of the year. Web: www.schulergroup.com
