Materials, Designs, Manufacturing Technologies&#8221; (March 01-02, 2023, Landshut University of Applied Sciences).<\/h3>\n<p>Lightweight construction plays an important role in the transformation of the economy toward sustainability. The entire cycle &#8211; from lightweight materials and design that already takes recycling into account to production and &#8220;second life&#8221; &#8211; must be considered and taken into account. The 11th Landshut Lightweight Construction Colloquium, organized by the Lightweight Construction Cluster at Landshut University of Applied Sciences, offers a platform to present and discuss current findings and developments in lightweight construction: from basic as well as applied research to industrial applications, finished lightweight products and recycling. The patronage for the Colloquium has been taken over by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.<\/p>\n<p>In plenary lectures and six sessions, each with two parallel technical presentations, speakers from science, industry and the service sector will shed light on a wide range of lightweight construction aspects. In the first plenary lecture, Prof. Dr. Markus Zimmermann (Technical University of Munich) will address the topic of &#8220;Design in lightweight construction: pushing the envelope&#8221;, before Prof. Dr. J\u00f6rg Esslinger (MTU Aero Engines AG) will give an overview of &#8220;Technologies for environmentally friendly and competitive aircraft engines&#8221;. The session topics with 34 technical presentations are: Manufacturing of fiber-plastic composites, mechanical properties of fiber-plastic composites, fatigue strength, joining technology, recycling and resource-optimized processes, numerical simulation, additive manufacturing, design, lightweight material construction for high-temperature applications, lightweight construction with thermoplastics, hybrid structures and cellular materials.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to technical presentations from research and practice, an accompanying trade exhibition offers participants the latest solutions and developments from the field of lightweight construction. A conference volume will be published for the two-day event, which will make first publications of the colloquium submitted by the speakers and reviewed by the expert committee available to a wide audience.<br \/>\nThe colloquium is organized by the Lightweight Construction Cluster at Landshut University of Applied Sciences, with Prof. Dr. Otto Huber as scientific director.<\/p>\n<h4>Lightweight Cluster:<\/h4>\n<p>The Institute for Transfer and Cooperation (ITZ) serves as the central point of contact for joint technology transfer activities at Landshut University. Technology-oriented companies in particular can benefit from cooperation with the university through the latest scientific knowledge with a high level of practical knowledge and application relevance. Landshut University&#8217;s three competence networks promote contact between science and industry and make it easier to exchange knowledge and know-how: Lightweight Construction Cluster, Microsystems Technology Cluster, Medical Technology Network.<br \/>\nThe lightweight construction cluster sees itself as a contact and specialist coordination point for research institutions, manufacturers and users in the field of lightweight construction technologies. Its goal is to interlink business and research more closely and to strengthen the competitiveness and innovative strength of its more than 100 members and partners through cross-technology cooperation.
