And so, at the beginning of 2002, the company&#8217;s technical management set out to bring the ideas and requirements down to a common denominator. A proprietary, double-sided processing system concept was developed and the new technology significantly improved the coating quality of laser-cut components in Lissmac production. The solution approach was communicated. Through the cooperation in a regional supplier network and the targeted technical exchange about challenges in sheet metal production, it quickly became clear that there was also a need for the highly efficient plant technology at other companies.<\/p>\n<p>A first prototype of the steel brushing machine (SBM) was built and the machining technology was patented in 2003. The Metal Processing Division was born. In 2004, in addition to oxide layer removal for improved paint adhesion, the rounding of all workpiece edges was integrated into the system concept and this was optimized. A new design and expansion of the tooling systems for slag removal and deburring resulted in a new generation of equipment in 2009.<\/p>\n<p>With now four different sizes of the double-sided machines, which are configured according to the application, the product portfolio in the metal processing sector could be designed for all requirements of sheet metal processing. The product portfolio was expanded through the acquisition of the metal division from B\u00fctfering Schleiftechnik GmbH in 2012 and the associated integration of the premium Steelmaster brand: customers could be offered freely configurable systems which, in addition to deburring and rounding, also enable defined surface grinding in wet and dry processes.<\/p>\n<p>Then, in 2015, another milestone has been set: A system concept for the double-sided machining of small parts in one operation and with 1-man operation was presented. And in 2018, Lissmac took over the after-sales business for the metal grinding machines on the market from Paul Ernst Maschinenfabrik GmbH, developed selected technologies further and integrated them sensibly into the existing product portfolio.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5843\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5843\" style=\"width: 509px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5843\" src=\"https:\/\/bbr.news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/01\/Bild4_SMW-5-509x381.jpg\" alt=\"The freely configurable wet grinding models of the SMW-5 series convince with precisely fitting machining for high-quality components and material mix. \u00a9 Lissmac\" width=\"509\" height=\"381\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5843\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The freely configurable wet grinding models of the SMW-5 series convince with precisely fitting machining for high-quality components and material mix.<br \/>\u00a9 Lissmac<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<h4>Implementation of different machine concepts<\/h4>\n<p>The system, which was originally only intended to solve an in-house problem, was ultimately the basis for the development of three different and successful machine concepts.<\/p>\n<p>On the one hand, these are systems that realize efficient double-sided machining of all cutting contours (outer and inner contours) on sheet metal in just one work process using the dry machining method. According to Lissmac, synchronous machining offers maximum productivity in the production process. The plant portfolio comprises four machine series, which differ in terms of working width and the number and type of aggregates for workpiece machining.<\/p>\n<p>The product range of single-sided dry grinding machines includes, on the one hand, the particularly economical entry-level models, whose application spectrum ranges from deburring and all-round edge rounding to the removal of heavy plasma or flame-cut slag. On the other hand, the range is completed by the versatile models of the SMD 3 series. The machines are characterized, among other things, by their innovative rotor head technology. The application spectrum ranges from slag removal, deburring and uniform edge rounding up to radius 2.0 mm to surface finishing and small parts machining.<\/p>\n<p>And according to Lissmac, the freely configurable wet grinding models are particularly convincing due to their precision-fit machining for high-quality components and material mix.
