Schuler has networked eight lines for the production of electrical sheet at Siemens’ Nuremberg production plant. These are three presses and five notching presses from Schuler and M\u00fcller Weingarten, which now have both a Production Monitor and a Press Force Monitor. They can be used to continuously monitor the operating status and the press force curve of the machines, even remotely.<\/p>\n

“As a manufacturer of presses, we have the necessary expertise to connect the machines to the Internet of Things,” explains Rohitashwa Pant, Chief Digital Officer at Schuler. The data not only provides information on productivity in the press shop, but can also provide indications of damage that may be imminent. Unplanned downtimes can be effectively avoided in this way. The data is transmitted via a secure connection to Schuler’s computer center, where it is processed and visualized in clear graphics.<\/p>\n

The Siemens machine and apparatus plant in Nuremberg produces drives that are used in mining and on ships, among other applications.<\/p>\n
