It is designed to give companies more control over critical data and processes and reduce their dependence on external technology platforms. <\/h3>\n<p>The development of advanced artificial intelligence for industry is an important step toward technological sovereignty: The Galaxia project aims to reduce dependence on external technology platforms and give companies back control over critical data and processes. The project is funded by the Basque Government\u2019s Hazitek program, which promotes research and development in companies. <\/p>\n<p>The project complies with the requirements of the European Artificial Intelligence Regulation (AI Act). It requires companies to adapt their systems to new standards regarding security, transparency, and governance. The multi-agent architecture designed by Ikerlan includes mechanisms that clearly define what each agent can and may do, in what context, and with what degree of autonomy. It can be used equally well in retail, healthcare, and industry.   <\/p>\n<p>Lantek serves as the project coordinator and contributes its expertise in industrial software, advanced data utilization, and the development of intelligent assistants for production processes. Ikerlan is the chief technology officer and brings his extensive cross-disciplinary skills and experience with intelligent systems and applied industrial research to the project. <\/p>\n<p>The consortium also includes companies from other strategic sectors, such as Eroski (retail), Mondragon Assembly (automation and assembly), Goizper (spray technology, power transmission, biotechnology), and Dorlet (access control and integrated security systems). They validate the developed technology using specific use cases. <\/p>\n<h4>From Chatbots to Actionable AI<\/h4>\n<p>Galaxia represents a conceptual shift and goes beyond traditional dialogue-oriented AI models. Rather than simply responding to requests, these systems are architectures that can take action, coordinate tasks, and function as a structured team within production processes. <\/p>\n<p>The approach is based on agent-based artificial intelligence, in which specialized agents work together in a coordinated manner to solve complex problems. Each agent performs a specific function\u2014whether analysis, planning, monitoring, or execution\u2014and works in sync with the others to achieve a common goal. This structure enables continuous data processing, real-time decision-making, and the transition from a purely supportive role to the autonomous execution of complete tasks in industrial environments.  <\/p>\n<p>Aizea Lojo, head of the research team for artificial intelligence and generative AI at Ikerlan: \u201cAgent-based AI works like a team of specialists who coordinate their efforts to achieve a common goal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The platform\u2019s design enables the application of this coordinated agent logic across various industries, thereby facilitating scalability and technology transfer. In practice, this can result in an offer being automatically generated upon receipt of an email, computer vision triggering the reordering of products in retail, or technical issues with repetitive tasks being resolved without manual intervention. <\/p>\n<p>Jose A. Lorenzo, Data Domain Manager at Lantek, emphasizes: \u201cArtificial intelligence is not meant to replace employees.
