This saves users time and counteracts the shortage of skilled workers. <\/h3>\n<p>With the &#8220;Cutting Assistant&#8221;, Trumpf is showcasing a solution at its in-house trade fair Intech that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to improve the quality of cut edges during laser cutting. In the first step, the production employee uses a handheld scanner to take a picture of the cutting edge of their component. The machine then cuts the sheet again. If the quality still does not meet expectations, the user can repeat the process. No experience in laser cutting is required for this.   <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With the Cutting Assistant, Trumpf is once again demonstrating that we are pioneers in the use of AI in industrial production. Users not only solve the shortage of skilled workers, but also save time and costs. This gives them productivity and competitive advantages,&#8221; promises Product Manager Louisa Peters at Trumpf.<\/p>\n<p>The high-tech company offers its customers the solution for all TruLaser series from a power of 6 kW. Anyone who already owns a Trumpf machine can usually simply retrofit the Cutting Assistant. <\/p>\n<h4>AI evaluates edge quality and makes optimization suggestions<\/h4>\n<p>In laser cutting, users often find it difficult to determine the correct parameters for their material grades. With materials that are not optimized for laser cutting, the quality of the cut edge often deviates and the production employee has to change the technology parameters. They need a lot of time and experience to make the optimum settings, as they have to adjust each individual parameter in turn. This presents many companies with challenges &#8211; especially if they employ inexperienced workers in production.   <\/p>\n<p>The Cutting Assistant is integrated into the machine&#8217;s software. This means that the optimized parameters can be seamlessly transferred to the software without programming. This saves time and prevents errors.  <\/p>\n<h4>Further improvements together with the users<\/h4>\n<p>The Trumpf experts have cut thousands of parts and used their years of specialist expertise to develop the Cutting Assistant. They have used this knowledge to train the algorithm. Trumpf&#8217;s work on the Cutting Assistant continues. In future, data from the application in the field will also be incorporated into the solution. This approach enables even faster and more reliable results because the self-learning system is continuously improving. Trumpf ensures that the algorithm does not disseminate the user&#8217;s expertise. &#8220;Manufacturers and users alike benefit from this innovative development approach.
